Project FitChurch is a weekly, 45 minute group exercise class. (3 Wetherill St, Leichhardt, NSW - attached to Leichhardt Uniting Church). While being open and accessible to all members of the local and wider community, Project FitChurch specifically targets both the congregational members of Leichhardt Uniting Church (LUC) and the Residents within Epworth House, an intentional Christian Community adjoining LUC. Project FitChurch currently averages 15-20 weekly participants with over fifty people claiming association to the group.

Project FitChurch resulted from conversations between church members, which established a potential market for, and capacity to provide, affordable group exercise classes. The project began in February, 2011 following the provision of seed funding from the Synod Mission Resource Fund.

This project aims to continue to provide an affordable means of regular physical activity for the communities at Leichhardt Uniting Church and Epworth House. Furthermore, Project FitChurch aims to serve as a model for other faith communities who wish to use physical activity as a way of engaging their local and church communities.
