A place for radical discipleship

Leichhardt Uniting Church was founded in 1880 as a Methodist Church, For more than 100 years, LUC has been a congregation where the truth of God's word is celebrated and the Reign of God is heralded. It is a "Safe Place" for all those who seek the biblical connections between faith and justice. Three missional focus areas are foundational to the congregational life of LUC:

Keeping Faith Doing Justice Building Community

As a group of Christian believers, Leichhardt Uniting Church works to strengthen the resolve of the committed, to encourage the fainthearted, and to enable prayer and action. LUC understands its Radical Discipleship calling to be a worshipping, living, serving community bearing witness to God's Trinitarian grace and work in Jesus, the crucified & risen Lord.

A Safe and Affirming Congregation

As a Safe Place and an Affirming Congregation, Leichhardt Uniting Church is aware of the issues concerning *LGBT+ civil rights within the Church. LUC therefore works towards the full acceptance and ministry of devout Christian LGBT+ people within the Family of God.

In doing so, we invite all in the Body of Christ to journey with us in moving beyond the deadlocked fight over LGBT+ relationships. And, as a "graced people" to join us in choosing humility over hostility, encouraging all into becoming a reconciled people with God and one another.
